The DNR is scheduled to start construction on the sound abatement phase of the Shooting Range project at Echo Point on May 1, 2023. No timeframe for completion is being listed at this time. This has been a long (5 year) negotiation between the original Lake Allegan Association and the DNR with a lot of lumps and bumps along the way. We hope this phase of the 3-phase project will go as planned without all the issues with temporarily closing of the range for the construction that are expected. David Thompson

Hello, with the recent Consumers Energy and the lake situation, the Echo Point Shooting range was moved to the back burner. While that burner has been turned off there are things happening in the background. The DNR (Mark Mills and Lori Burford) received the funding to make improvements to the sound abatement needed at the shooting range. The construction work is currently out for bids by authorized construction companies with the upgrade being scheduled to start in the next 30 to 60 days. From the first day (2016) of this effort the LAA never tried to close the Shooting Range and a great deal of effort has been invested in making the range a welcome part of the lake community.
